Software Engineer

Global Ad Solutions has an opening for a full-time Software Engineer to join our team. We specialize in web-based business applications.

The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of projects ranging from private intranet web applications to large scale, public facing Internet sites; including front-end web development and back-end CGI programming.

Required skills include:

• Designing, coding and debugging applications in front-end browser and middle-tier software languages.
• Support, maintain and document software functionality.
• Integration of multi-tier web/Intranet-based applications with existing systems.
• Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, and software automation.

Desired skills include:

• Strong skills in Perl, HTML, JavaScript and CSS, and a strong understanding of object oriented programming principles.
• Solid experience creating front-end code based on comps provided by a designer.
• 3+ years of professional experience as a programmer building websites and database driven web applications.
• Experience working with JavaScript libraries such as jQuery or Prototype.
• Intermediate knowledge of SQL databases.
• Deep understanding of cross-browser development.
• Experience working with MVC frameworks is a plus.
• Familiarity with other languages is a plus (JSP, Actionscript/Flash, PHP, Ruby on Rails, etc.).
• Knowledge with Subversion or other version control systems.

Senior Perl Software Developer

Global Ad Solutions is seeking a Senior Perl software developer who is ready for the challenges and responsibilities that come with working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. We are looking for a candidate that is a high level software developer with strong OO Perl and MySQL skills who is looking to grow their skill set fast. The position is for a telecommuting Senior Perl software developer, there will be occasional travel for meetings, training, and corporate events.

Key Job Responsibilities: Design, develop, test and integrate code into our existing system as well as build out new features.

Education: A master's degree, in Computer Science, an equivalent, or equivalent work experience (5-7 years).

Required skills and experience:

• Object Oriented Perl
• Relational database concepts. (preferable MySQL)
• Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix.
• Detail oriented and self motivated.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to still meet deadlines while multitasking.

Knowledge in any of the following areas is a plus:

• Subversion
• Eclipse
• System administration skills
